The President’s Report
I guess good things do come to those who wait
patiently. At the Park Board meeting on Sept 21st   the
Rice Lake Park Board finally gave RLMAC members
permission to drive to our new flying site at the south
end of Moon Lake Park. A
special thanks goes to
former club member Doug Zimmer, and to Rice Lake
City Administrator Curt Schneider for going to bat for
us. Also thanks to RLMAC members Rusty Selkow and
John Moen for attending that meeting on such short
notice, and for speaking on behalf of our clubs best
interest. And finally, I’d like to thank all our club
members and the Park Board for their continued
patience and understanding with the park situation.
Directions for diving to our park flying field are as
follows. Drive to south end of the paved parking area
(old runway), cut straight across the grass to the west,
and follow the park property line south along the west
side of the trees. Continue along the property line
heading south until you get to our clubs lawnmower
shed and flight line area. You may park in the grass
along the west side of our flight line area between the
trees. There was discussion at the meeting of a gate
being installed back at the south end of the pavement.
At some point in the future, there is the possibility that
the city will fence off the paved parking area (old
runway), so that only RLMAC members will have
driving access on the grass to the south end of the
park. More details will become available as they are
worked out.
