![]() once. I believe Doug is planning one more combat event for
around Labor Day weekend. If you have never watched RC
combat, it can get pretty exciting, as planes colliding and
falling out of the sky are a common occurrence. Ladysmith
put on one very nice fun fly, and many of our members
enjoyed their great flying facilities, and even went home with
some very nice raffle prizes! The Ladysmith club welcomes
AMA member flying on Sunday afternoons starting at 1:00pm.
The Ladysmith field is west on P, just a few miles south of
town off 27. Our club had a great flying day in the park a
couple Sundays back. Special thanks to Rusty for bringing his
lawnmower and snowmobile trailer to transport planes and
people to and from the south end. Lots of members showed
up and we had a great time.
Id like to remind our members that the City of Rice Lake does
not want any automobiles driving on the grass to our flying
site on the south end of the park. Our RLMAC was given
permission by the Park Board to fly within the restrictions of
the south end of the park for an indefinite period of time, but
with the understanding that our members will adhere to the
parks rules. Also, I want to remind everyone that if you fly off
the paved parking area, you are doing so at your own risk. It
is no longer a RLMAC/AMA club insured-flying site. You may
feel safe flying a little electric foam park flyer near people and
vehicles, but please think twice about flying your 14-pound
gas powered plane in that same situation. It may feel like
were being squeezed out of the park by restrictions, but it still
offers some great RC flying space for those willing to adjust
to the changing environment. Its very possible that less than
one-pound electric airplanes may be the wave of our flying
future. A park offers a great place to fly those types of planes.
If anyone has information about a prospect for a new club-
flying site in the immediate Rice Lake area, please contact
myself, or any of our clubs officers. For those willing to drive
a bit we do have our RLMAC southern district flying site east
of Chetek at Leon Olszewskis. There are a few other private
sites available as well. Please call a club officer if you need
more info about a flying site.
By now, you may have heard something about a new
flying site being available just east of Dallas, or about
10 miles south of Barron. Judd Koenitzer has
welcomed us to fly off the east end of his 1,300 foot
private runway at 1955 5th Ave. Judd is a full-scale
pilot and aircraft mechanic and plans to operate an
aircraft maintenance facility out of this property in the
near future. Judd also flies RC, and is very supportive
of our hobby needs. Hes currently in the process of
installing a porta-potty and small sun shelter complete
with picnic table for us to use. A few volunteers have
been keeping the grass extra short for RC planes at the
east end of the runway. Judd has given us permission
to have a cookout on Wednesday evening Aug 17th
around 6:00pm. Our Vice President John Moen agreed
to be head chef for the evening. Feel free to bring
anything you want to eat, a dish to pass, a plane to fly,
or just come out and check out the new flying field. Ill
try to get a map to Judds place in this newsletter. A
big thanks goes out to Judd & his family for sharing
their personal property with the rest of us.

The Presidents Report
Sorry for the later than normal newsletter. Ive been having
so much fun out flying and vacationing with my family that Ive
fallen behind on club paperwork. July had some great
weather, and some really good flying event turnouts. Doug
Goldman hosted another great combat event at his place,
and I got to fly in my first official combat round. I have to say
its a very challenging sport even for someone whos been
flying for many years. There is so much to focus on all at
