President’s
Report: I think we did a
smart thing at the last meeting. The membership vote to let the board of
directors take over the by law committee responsibilities, as well as work out details
of the clubs business, is a big step in the right direction. I really feel it
is important for our club officers and board members to set an example to the
rest of our membership, on how to work through business in an orderly and
timely manor. It may seem silly for such a small club to need such detail in
business structure, but the evidence of past meetings run astray speaks
strongly for itself. Without using a chain of command structure, we are capable
of wasting a tremendous amount of time. There is no reason for any member to
feel left out of the loop with this new system. Just remember, the Board of
Directors (B.O.D.) that you voted into office, will be the same people
representing you and me at all B.O.D. meetings. It will be your responsibility
to bring whatever issues you may have, to the president or a B.O.D. member, to
be put on the table at a BOD meeting. The board reports outcomes back to all
members at a general membership meeting. The general membership will still vote
on most issues and all positions, but the B.O.D. will work through the bulk of
the business details. In some cases, a board member may request a non board
member to attend a board meeting, in order to rectify a situation. Any club
member may bring an issue to the board’s attention at a general meeting, but
there will be no debate, or disputed discussion between members on the issue,
at that meeting. The issue will be forwarded to the next B.O.D. meeting for
discussion. It may take a while for everyone to feel comfortable with this new
procedure, but in the end, it will free up a lot of our meeting time for other
activities. I for one am looking forward to some airplane discussions at our
upcoming meetings. Oh yeah, the Super Decathlon is coming along nicely……..Your
president, Kevin Kuehn.
Minutes: Started 7:05 p.m. 13 members were present. No
minutes were read. Treasurer reports all finances balance out. Our Parade
committee is still searching for a trailer to use, a couple of possible
donators are, Ray Selkow, Wayne Barta, and Chuck Dorey. A motion to shift our by
laws committee responsibilities to the board of directors as well as the
majority of our club business, (was passed 12 to 1) in an effort to minimize
time and controversy at our regular monthly meetings, leaving more time to do
fun things. We have 2 new board of director members, Wayne Barta and Darwin
Avery, as Stan Gieseki has resigned from our club. Intro pilots Don Filter,
Darin Nichols and James Kaphingst have stepped down from the program. There is
at this time (no pilot trainers in the club). Indoor flying at prairie farm school has been
approved, contact Kevin Kuehn. Suggestions were made for additional ways to finance our club events,
such as a donation box at our fly-ins and landing fees, procedes to go toward
things like club coolers, and maybe our own trailer. 50/50 winner is Don
Filter.
Special note: We would like to keep all personal
records straight, so if you have moved or changed phone numbers etc… please
contact our club secretary with any new information, this will expedite getting
you the information you need to stay informed.
