PRESIDENTS REPORT: A
new sign should be up at the entrance of our field stating our name. This was
talked about and voted on at our last meeting. The value of this sign certainly
is not worth $200.00, but the real value is not in the money, it is in what
this sign stands for. Our members have recognized this value and that really
says it all. We are now officially on the map, and with pride to go with
it…congratulations to you, our members…Happy
Landings.
Minutes: 15 members were present. Our web site is up
and running, the address is rlmac.cjb.net. You can contact Jason Novak -
our web master at jnovak@merlinsoftware.com
with any suggestions or information to be considered for our site. (Please see
special note below). A motion was made to cancel the savings account and only
have a checking account for all transactions - when this account reaches a
balance of $2000 or more, we then can consider another CD .The treasurer said
he would categorize all accounts (donations, dues, etc…) in a ledger. (Motion
approved). Motion to appropriate spending $200.00 to have a sign made, provided
the president approves the design, (Motion approved). Prices have gone up for
our charter to $30.00 and our insurance per site is $60.00. We are only going
to insure 2 flying sites. Our regular field (old airport) and Grandpas Train
Shop will be our only insured sites. Our President has communicated with the
Parks & Recreation, City of Rice Lake, Soccer Association and others, and
has been given the green light to keep and maintain our status at the
old airport. Don Filter said we should inter-act with other clubs. He will be
talking with the Eau-Claire club. Our club has been invited to put on a
demonstration at the Lyndale Golf Course this summer.(The Lyndale golf course is just
north of

Tips/Tricks: Jam Nuts by
Bob Furr- Taken from the National Newsletter.
If you have ever had the problem of a prop nut coming loose inside a spinner,
you will want to listen up. One thing you can do that works well is use a jam
nut. This is nothing more than another prop nut tightened up against the first
one you put on. It locks the first nut in place and keeps your prop from
working loose. One thing to keep in mind is that if you are using a wood prop,
the wood will compress over time and both nuts will need to be tightened. Do
this one at a time getting the nut closest to the prop tight first and then
tighten the other nut while holding the first in place.
